Well damn, this is a pretty metal tune, dude. I'd actually like to see you finish this. I liked where you were going with it. Tell me though, after the small chunk of the song you did remix, how were you planning to complete the rest of it? Were you going to include some keyboard or was it going to just be straight up, raw, unrestrained metal?

Beartheshadows responds:

The plan was make it as metal as I could.
There's already a little bit of keyboard in the rhythm arrangement. So probably nothing more than that. Maybe a synth-style lead some where. IDK. Honestly, I forgot what my original plan was.
Anyhow, I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for the response.

You need to add the arrangement to make this work.

I don't care for the base song in the slightest, personally, but in order for this to sound good as a melody-only song, you need to arrange the vocals and lay them over. Without the vocals, the song sounds even more flat than I had initially anticipated it to be. Go figure.

Nothing against your recreation of the underlying melody, but without seeing the name of the song, I wouldn't have recognized it. I suppose that's the drawback of most rhythm-driven songs from this generation.

I'm going to give you 4/5 for your effort because you did a really good job capturing the background rhythm track, but seriously, you need to arrange the vocals and overlay your two tracks. Trust me on this one. ;)

EternalEndeavor responds:

hey thanks for the honest opinion, it is my first recreation. Ive only been working with music for about 6 months so thanks for that!

Well heeeeeello

It looks like you've gotten an unholy amount better since the last time we've all heard a tune out of you, Zero-Resurrected. Good to hear you haven't been slouching at the tunes. The themes that really stand out to me as the strongest are Cannonball, Powerful Enemy, Trap Obsession, and Flandre's Theme. Brilliant Show Window, Mountain Rider, and Chosen One are all good, but they feel like they're lacking something. For Brilliant Show Window, the tempo seems off in a few spots, and is a bit lacking at the beginning of the song, granted, it picks up as it starts getting into the melody. Mountain Rider, there's just not enough there to really critique for you. Then we've got Chosen One, where it does take an interesting new direction, but it trails off before we can really sink our teeth into something new. Lastly, Awake just isn't jiving with me. Not entirely sure what it is right off, but something about it just feels a hair on the empty side.

Overall, I hafta say great work in the tunes that you've got going on here, and I'm always excited to hear a new song or two out of you when you release 'em. Perhaps I should start sharing my artwork with you to return the favor ;P

Keep it up, man.

Zero-Resurrected responds:

Brilliant show window, mountain rider, chosen one probably sound like they are lacking because i didnt have alot of the remix done for this sampler. those are the ones that still need alot of work

*claps*

VERY nicely done, Zero! You took the original, and really pushed it beyond what it was. This remix easily outclasses the remix found in ZXA Tunes as well. You should be really proud of this song because it truly is a fantastic piece. Everything seems very nicely equalized and in unity. I don't hear any aspect of the melody being swallowed by the rest of the song in any given place. Also, the segment that you incorporated into the transition period between verse 1 and 2 was a very nice touch. You took the song a step further than they took it in ZXA Tunes, where all they did was replay the first version with electric guitar and heavy bass for the second verse.

Lastly, you conclude your song very nicely. Sure, it's a slight repeat of your mid-verse remix, but it works in this circumstance, and works rather nicely in fact. Keep up the nice work, and I look forward to your next track.

Peace.

Zero-Resurrected responds:

Thanks man! A lot of thought went into this remix

Hrmmm...

This was one of the best songs to ZX Advent, by far, and certainly the absolute most dramatic to boot. This mix is pretty snazzy so far, however, something's detracting from the feeling of the song. At about 0:27, the main melody is rather low, and it blends in with the rest of the backing track (the drums, keyboard, etc). This problem seems to occur in a couple of other places, including your final verse, which is destroyed by this levels (just a guess) blending (which is a shame, because when I listen close, it sounds pretty slick).

In all honesty though? I give you props for this piece, it is good. *thumbs up*

Zero-Resurrected responds:

Wow thats quite the review you got goin there dude! Thanks for the advice. I'll keep it into consideration when I'm working on my next stuff. Thanks for the review. :)
